Your nose surgery at Omaha Face and Body: Custom surgery from a facial specialist
A rhinoplasty at OmahaFace is a customized procedure and will be carefully planned just for you. Your facial proportions, skin thickness, and nasal anatomy are all thoroughly evaluated when developing your custom surgical plan. We offer 3D photography, in which a 3D image of your face is digitally created so you can visualize various changes – an excellent tool for surgical planning.

*Individual results may vary
What are my options?
Rhinoplasty procedures can be performed with two surgical methods: Open or closed.
- Closed rhinoplasty: An endonasal, or closed rhinoplasty, leaves no visible incisions, as the shape alterations are performed from within the nose, through the nostrils. This technique typically causes less swelling and has a slightly faster recovery. It is generally most successful for less extreme nose shape issues.
- Open rhinoplasty: An open rhinoplasty involves placing a small incision through the columella (strip of tissue between the nostrils) to allow Dr. Harbison greater access and visualization of the inner structure of the nose and allows for more reshaping techniques to be performed.
The choice of approach depends on many factors, including any prior nasal surgery, your individual anatomy, and the changes you envision for your nose.

Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty in Omaha?
It is best to wait on rhinoplasty until the facial skeleton has matured sufficiently, generally around age 16. You must be in good general health and able to be administered general anesthetic safely. If you take blood-thinning medications, these must be halted for two weeks prior to your surgical date. This must be discussed with your physician.
When will I see the results of my nose reshaping surgery?
Some results will be visible when the external cast and sutures are removed, but some swelling will still be visible in the early stages. Some changes, particularly in the nasal tip, can take several months (or longer) for the final result to be achieved. The nasal skin can take some time to meld around the changes to the underlying cartilage.
